asrc-profile-alex-ashtonI am a tech worker and aspiring UX designer/researcher and technical communicator. I am currently a Platform Stability Associate at Optoro, a DC-based startup that is currently disrupting the retail returns market through innovative reverse-logistics dispositioning software. This position involves processing incidents, bug reports, and feature requests from both external clients and internal users of Optoro’s SaaS platform. In addition, the team proactively monitors the platform, communicates key performance, incident and bug data, and maintains incident and platform configuration databases.

Prior to this role, I had an extensive IT-management and technical support background, including management and technical lead roles for Liquidity Services and The Executive Office of the President/White House (contracted with L3 Communications and Unisys); a contracted technical writing role with eXtensia Technologies; and tier 1 technical support roles with URS (now AECOM) and Verizon Data Services.

I am currently a third-year student at Arizona State University majoring in Technical Communication with a concentration in User Experience and a minor in Applied Business Data Analytics. I am building my portfolio and will be seeking opportunities in the areas of UX design, front-end web/app design or technical writing.

Areas of interest include user experience and human-computer interaction; technical communication and documentation; website setup and design; and for fun, Latin American history, travel, and culture.
